Journey since 2000

We have trained 1,000 journalists since our journey began at a small office in Reno of Nevada in 2000. We work with media outlets, freelance journalists, NGOs, United Nations, academia and governments to make the world a better place for journalists

Md Fazlur Rahman founded the non-profit organization in 2000. He is currently attending the graduate program at the Reynolds School of Journalism under the University of Nevada, Reno. Before arriving at the Biggest Little City in the World, he served as the deputy business editor of The Daily Star, the most-circulated English language newspaper in Bangladesh. He started at the influential media outlet as a staff reporter in its business section in 2010 before moving to the editorial role in 2021. Overall, Rahman has nearly two decades of experience in journalism, working as a reporter and subeditor for the two the largest English dailies in the South Asian nation. He also worked as a subeditor at the Dhaka bureau of Agence France-Presse (AFP) and as a freelance translator for the BBC World Service Trust as well as at two more local media outlets. Throughout his career, he has largely been focused on print journalism. Since the audience is receiving news from multiple sources, he has chosen the RSJ to equip himself with the kind of knowledge and skillsets that a 21st-century journalist will require to do well in the world of multimedia. Rahman received his bachelor and master degrees in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, the biggest public school in Bangladesh. Rahman was born and brought up in a small town of the Jamalpur district, which is about150 kilometers north of the capital Dhaka. Since he secured admission at the University of Dhaka in 2002, he has been passionate about journalism and how it could contribute to the development of society by holding those in power accountable and ensuring transparency.
